About Us

A workshop of monsters and experiments from Costa Rica

At Nomellamo, we believe that diversity makes the world more interesting.

Since 2009, we have been designing characters, plush toys, and accessories inspired by nature, Costa Rican culture, and creativity. We are a workshop of monsters and experiments where every creation is born with a mission: to celebrate what makes us unique and remind us that there is no single way to be or to see the world.

Our characters are an invitation to embrace creativity and authenticity. They are adventure companions, travel memories, and small pieces that make us smile while reminding us that we are all different, and that is perfectly okay. They also invite us to imagine, create stories, and look at the world with curiosity.

Each Nomellamo product is designed in Costa Rica and handcrafted by a network of women who work from their homes. Through this flexible production model, we help create economic opportunities for women with caregiving responsibilities, allowing them to develop their talent in a way that fits their reality.

We believe that creating something with our hands can generate much more than a product: it can create well-being and opportunities.

Our collections are deeply inspired by Costa Rica: its landscapes, biodiversity, culture, rhythm, and contrasts. Each design seeks to capture a little piece of the essence of this country and share it with the world.

That is why we say Nomellamo is the perfect gift to bring a little piece of Costa Rica to the world.

About the Designer

I am Lina Rodríguez, a designer and mother of two girls who remind me every day of the importance of curiosity, play, and imagination.

For more than fifteen years, I have had the privilege of creating characters and objects that connect with people. Along the way, I discovered that creating these creatures is also a way of telling stories about who we are.

My creative process is born from the meeting point between research and the joy of creating. It is that space where the outside world disappears and only materials, ideas, and the possibility of transforming them into something new exist.

It is a very intimate moment, often very chaotic: a computer, cardboard, pencils, fabrics, buttons, threads, mockups, pins… Everything works like an orchestra of materials that little by little begins to shape a creation. Some ideas are discarded, while others return later. Sometimes I do not even notice the hours passing, and I feel as if I have been transported to another world.

And finally, it appears. Almost never on the same day. It arrives without warning, as if it had been hiding somewhere, waiting for the right moment. When I finally see it clearly, I think: welcome, you finally showed up.

Here begins another cycle that I love: discovering how to translate all that exploration into something that can be understood and replicated by the seamstresses who will continue bringing it to life.

At that moment, digital processes, technological tools, and handcrafted techniques coexist.

I like to think that each character is born precisely from that encounter: between a needle and a computer, between tradition and a new idea, between the hands that create and the imagination that guides them.
